The curtain is slowly closing on another college football season and that means it will be a sprint to the finish for teams hoping to sew up BCS bowl berths.

Last Sunday’s game between the San Diego Chargers and Pittsburgh Steelers was notable for a number of reasons:
It was the first time in NFL history that a game ended 11-10. It was the Chargers’ 13th straight loss (0-13) in Pittsburgh. And the referees blew a call on the last play that would have made the final score 17-10 for the Steelers—Pittsburgh was favored by 4.5-points.

Fate has been cruel to both Ohio State and USC the past few weeks, with the Buckeyes losing to the Trojans in Week 3 and the Trojans losing to the Oregon State Beavers last week.
The first BCS standings of the season are set to be released on October 19 and Ohio State and USC won’t be near the top but their seasons aren’t write-offs as there is still enough time to recover, starting this week against conference opponents.

The NCAA College Football roller coaster hit hard last week, as big names stumbled all over the place and the seas parted for a new #1 to step in… although for how long, we’ll have to wait and see.
